Arrayán Syrah 2020

The 2020 Syrah comes from sandy granite soils and a continental climate. The grapes were harvested on the 12th of September and reached 14.18% alcohol. It fermented with wild yeasts in stainless steel and matured in second-use French oak barrels for 12 months. It has a varietal nose in the Northern Rhône style, with violets, tar and smoky bacon. It is juicy and balanced, with some toasty flavors in the finish that should be rendered by some more time in bottle. It has grip in the shape of grainy tannins. It needs food. 1,778 bottles were filled in December 2021.

Blue fruit, allspice, white pepper and some dried violet characters. Elegant and delineated on the palate with juicy blue and red berries rounded by fine, silky tannins. Linear and nicely lengthy. Would rate higher if there was a bit more depth and gravity to the center palate. Already delicious and quite drinkable. Enjoy now.
