Viñedos en San Vicente is José Gil's village wine, sourced from seven different parcels. Fermented with 25% whole bunches before ageing in a medley of concrete, stainless steel and 500-litre barrels, it's typically fine, detailed and nuanced, mixing violet, vanilla spice and wild herb aromas with a palate of raspberry and black cherry. 2024-30
The 2022 Viñedos en San Vicente de la Sonsierra was produced in the same way as the 2021 that I tasted next to it, trying to express finesse and purity in a warmer and ripe year. The wine has similar parameters, 13.9% alcohol. It's surprisingly fresh and harmonious for a 2022, close to the 2021 from the same village, with some floral hints and a seamless palate, juicy and with round tannins. 15,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in September 2024.
Roses, white pepper, seashells, hibiscus, vibrant red cherries and stone fruit. Fine-boned and stony tannins with a tight-grained finish. Pure and long. Around 25% whole clusters, which really help take out the fruit sweetness. Tempranillo, garnacha and a bit of viura. Drink or hold.

Más fresco y fluido que el de la Bastida. Un gran ejemplo de los nuevos aires que corren por La Rioja.
